A very wonderful and vast collection of Nightingale's opinions on important moments in theatre history. It's easier to understand the details of what he's talking about when you know the play/performance, because he doesn't go into extreme detail about the plot. But all in all, very great collection.

Loved this book. Very dip in and outable, and really funny in parts too. Loved Benedict's wry wit and personable confessions, made you feel like you really got to know him, and indeed the productions. Adored it!!!

Genuinely lame title for a genuinely great book. A compilation of notable productions in the theatre stretching back to the Ancient Greek theatre and running right up to Jez Butterworth's masterpiece 'Jerusalem'.
