I've read at least one of the other books in this series and I don't remember it as being so focused on clothes. Yes, I know the series is all about accessories and fashion but there was so much describing what the characters were wearing, what they were going to wear, how the male characters dressed, what they drove and how affluent they were. I feel that at least 1/3 of the wording in this book was fashion related. This did not allow for complete story line development and it seemed pieced tog [...]

This so-called mystery read like a fashion magazine. Totally boring. I know it's about fashion, but do you need to go on in excruciating detail about what everybody is wearing and what a great dresser you are? I got to the point that I didn't care what happened and tossed the book aside. Won't be reading anymore in this series.

I want to like these books. I do enjoy the San Francisco setting. However the main character is so shallow and the fashion so over the top it's getting hard to take. Even the men's clothes are described in so much detail. There has been no character growth in three books. I honestly feel these are getting worse as the series goes on.

One of the things I enjoy about living in small town Montana is the lack of pressure to be "fashionable." The life of a woman who lives for name-dropping high end fashion is a little hard to identify with. But I enjoyed this mystery with all its admitted superficiality. Even though I can scarcely remember the arbitrary ending a day after I read it.

Rita Jewel has the perfect job, selling gorgeous clothing to the San Francisco elite. She has the perfect boss,Dolce, who understand and adores her and sometimes gives her free clothing from the high end boutique. She has three men she sometimes sees, not always in the best of circumstances. She's even taken a cooking class from a celebrity chef. Still she feels like something's missing. Her job doesn't seem as thrilling as usual, even with the gossip and fine fashions. Her boss thinks she needs [...]

I have to say first that there was a lot that I really loved about this book. I really enjoy the character Rita. She is sassy, funny, and insecure. She loves her job working in fashion and really loves her boss. She has three men that she sees off and on. A doctor, detective, and a gymnast. The thing that did not get more than 3 stars for me were the feeling of being rushed while reading. Things were left unfinished. What happens to Mirra? She is suspected then all of a sudden left off as nobody [...]

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books1 star This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.2 stars This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.3 stars This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.4 stars I really [...]

I really don't care for this detective. She is such an egotist she thinks the police should not only be grateful for her help, but give her a medal. Also, the amount of paper spent on writing about clothes (not my thing at all) could save a few trees. She seems to solve the mysteries more by dumb luck than by any ability or intelligence.

    • Mickey says:

I did something I rarely do- I quit reading this about 1/3 of the way through. I understand that the main character works in fashion, but I don't need a constant laundry list of all the designer names the author can throw in. Who gives a rat's ass what the cop is wearing? HIS clothes aren't part of the mystery.

    • Vicky says:

Note to self: do not buy anymore Accessary mysteries. too boring. Too many discrepencies.

    • Sherrie says:

This was a very slow start. I was not impressed with this particular book of her series. The first book was really well done but this one is leaving me hanging. Hope the next one is better.

    • Alice Lubrecht says:

This started out interesting but quickly bogged down in some unrealistic assumptions. The ending was not planned well and just so of dropped you at the end.

    • Esther Bergman says:

The character is not bad but I find lots of loose ends not tied up by the end of each book in this series. I also think they end rather abruptly.

    • Lichen says:

Too much commentary on clothing for my interest. Others mike like it.
